Access to healthcare and support for reproductive rights are matters of basic human dignity. Uninsured individuals are four times more likely to require avoidable hospitalizations and emergency care. Our current system causes detriment to each of us as individuals, and it negatively impacts our economy. Over two-thirds of all bankruptcy cases are due to staggering medical debt. While individuals and taxpayers suffer, corporations profit. In my personal life, this is an issue that resonates deeply. As a child raised in poverty, I experienced significant instability. Because of this, I made a career out of supporting policies that create thriving communities.

Affordable & Accessible Healthcare

I support single-payer healthcare and believe healthcare should be a public, not a private, good. As a State Representative, I will work tirelessly to support policies that put individuals ahead of company profit, including policies that address the current, unacceptable healthcare system. 

Reproductive Freedom

I believe strongly in the right to control our bodies and our future; this includes the right to have children, the right to not have children, and the right to parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities. 

This issue is deeply personal. Both for a family member and myself, I have twice been through IVF. I’ve experienced two miscarriages and a laparoscopy surgery for endometriosis. As someone who’s struggled with infertility, a high-risk pregnancy, and labor without an epidural, I know these experiences can be life threatening and excruciatingly painful. I will not allow state lawmakers to get in between my daughter and her doctors. I am unapologetically pro-choice. 

In 2023, Ohio voters came out strongly in support of a Constitutional Amendment ensuring the right to reproductive freedom. I worked fiercely to get this issue on the ballot in 2023. And yet, the Republican super-majority has continually tried to roll-back this citizen-led initiative. As a State Representative, I will staunchly support Ohioans access to reproductive care, which includes access to abortion. Beyond that, I will support the right of Ohioans to raise their children in healthy and safe environments, because this is what the right to life is really about—a life of safety and dignity.
