All human beings deserve dignity and for their rights to be respected. Our government should promote freedom and legislation that allows us to safely coexist as our most unique selves. As a member of Upper Arlington City Council, I lead the effort to update our anti-discrimination ordinance for the first time in fifty years. As a State Representative, I will continue supporting efforts that embrace our shared humanity and bring us closer together.

LGBTQ+

For years, I have advocated for the LGBTQ+ community. Until marriage equality was the law of the land, we abstained from obtaining a license to marry. I have been an egg donor for an LGBTQ+ couple. As an Upper Arlington City Council Member, I ensured our anti-discrimination ordinance included the LGBTQ+ community as a protected class. I also championed our first-ever Pride Month Mayoral Proclamations and Resolutions. We are longtime members and donors to organizations like the Human Rights Campaign, Stonewall Columbus, and Equality Ohio and will continue to be. 

Gender Affirming Care

Gender affirming care is an evidence-based best practice. It’s crucial to the overall health and wellbeing of gender diverse children and adolescents. The medical choices you make should be between you and your doctor—not you and lawmakers. I oppose policies that infringe on your right to make private medical decisions and will be outspoken, as I have been in the past, about your access to healthcare. 

Immigration

My mother is a German immigrant. I love how her global perspective has informed mine. Immigrants are welcomed members of any community, most especially ours here in District 7. While immigration policies are set at the federal level, I still want neighbors to know that I believe in welcoming, just, and safe, humane migration. I support pro-immigrant policies that strengthen communities and honor human dignity. I believe in creating welcoming, dignified, and just immigration policies, not needlessly placing more people in cages and inhumane conditions. I share the growing concern of increased policing in our communities under the guise of immigration enforcement and I strongly condemn turning soldiers inward on our neighbors. It threatens our democracy.

Religion

I believe strongly in the separation of religion and government, while also believing strongly that all people of all faiths deserve the freedom to practice their religion safely and without fear.
