JUSTICE

My commitment to justice is reflected in my work. For more than a decade, I have worked with legislators in a variety of roles. I currently work on sentencing reform, human rights, access to counsel, and reducing recidivism. I’ve done the research and understand what works. I oppose legislation that increases penalties without improving public safety, and I stand against policies that would further strain an already overburdened criminal justice system. The war on drugs didn’t work. Let’s learn from our past and not repeat it.

My policy work is grounded in the real-life challenges I see every day and what many of my friends would call a “weapons grade sense of justice.” I believe that everyone deserves access to justice and I know that fair policy matters. I strongly oppose the death penalty and war, and believe our taxes, this shared investment we make in one another, is best spent on improving lives, not destroying them.
