LABOR &WAGES

When we present a united front against corporate greed, our middle class, our economy, and our communities thrive. People should always be ahead of profit. This includes allowing unions to flourish, increasing our minimum wage, and supporting our middle-class.

Minimum Wage

Our minimum wage has lagged behind inflation for far too long. I strongly support measures that would increase the minimum wage. An inflation-adjusted minimum wage would be $24 per hour. Ohioans deserve to earn a wage that allows them to support themselves. Anything less than that defies the point of the policy in the first place. We agreed as a society to never again allow our neighbors to starve and die from poverty after the Great Depression. The time is now to protect workers and our communities from exorbitant wealth and greed.

Unions

When our industries are pro-union, our economy thrives. This is supported by history and research. During my entire career, I have consistently and demonstrably shown up as a pro-union public servant. An injury to one is an injury to all.

It’s not just that I know the research—our family has lived the benefit that comes from a good union job. Our family drives union-made cars and we have consistently been publicly vocal in support of unions, including supporting employees in Upper Arlington who seek to unionize or workers who are on strike. We do not cross picket lines.
